Audiovault Reproducible measurements and listening notes for headphones, earbuds and speakers

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Audiovault collects when you visit, why it is collected, how long it is kept and how you can exercise your rights. It applies to this website only.

1. Who we are

Audiovault is an editorial review site for personal audio equipment, published at https://audiovault.digital. For any question about this policy, including requests to access or delete data, write to [email protected]. For the purposes of the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, the site operator is the data controller for the information described below.

2. What information we collect

Information you give us directly: an email address if you contact us, and any content of that message. Information collected automatically: your IP address, browser type, referring page, and the pages you request, recorded in server logs and by our content delivery network. We do not ask for an account, a password, a payment card or a postal address, and there is no checkout on this site.

We do not collect special category data, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not buy or sell personal data.

3. Cookies and similar technologies

Strictly necessary cookies are used to keep the site working and to remember security challenges served by our content delivery network. Affiliate tracking cookies may be set when you follow an outbound commercial link from a review page; these record that a visit came from this site so that a merchant can attribute a resulting order. They contain no name, email address or payment information. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the review pages still work without them.

We do not currently run advertising networks or third-party analytics on this site. If that changes, this section will be updated before the change goes live and a consent notice will be shown where the law requires one.

4. Affiliate links and disclosure

Some links on Audiovault are affiliate links. If you follow one and complete a purchase, the merchant may pay us a commission. The price you pay is not affected. Commissions never influence our test selection, our measurements or our conclusions, and no merchant is given editorial approval over a page. Attribution is handled by the affiliate network that operates the link, under its own privacy terms.

5. Why we process information

We process information to deliver the pages you request, to keep the site secure and available, to answer messages you send us, to measure aggregate traffic so we can decide what to test next, and to attribute commission for purchases that originate here. The legal bases are our legitimate interests in publishing and securing an editorial website, the performance of a contract where you have asked us to respond to you, and consent where a technology requires it.

6. Media, comments and embedded content

We do not host an upload feature and readers cannot post comments on this site, so no user-generated content is stored. Articles may embed images served from external providers, and if an article ever embeds media from a third-party platform, that platform’s own privacy policy governs the data it collects. Photographs are sourced from public-domain and openly licensed libraries; attribution is included in the caption where a licence requires it.

7. Who we share information with

We keep sharing to the minimum needed to run the site. Recipients are: our hosting provider, which stores the site files and database on a server in the United States; Cloudflare, which provides the content delivery network, DNS and security filtering; our email provider, which delivers messages sent to the address above; and affiliate networks, which receive the fact that a visit originated from this site when you click a commercial link. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of the site and its readers. We do not sell personal information.

8. How long we keep it

Messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to answer them and then for a further twelve months for reference. Server and access logs are retained for approximately thirty days. Aggregate traffic statistics are kept in anonymised form and are not linked back to an individual visitor. Affiliate attribution records are held by the relevant network under its own retention schedule, which we do not control.

9. Where information is stored and international transfers

The site is hosted on a server located in Los Angeles, United States, and content is cached on Cloudflare edge nodes worldwide. Information may therefore be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, which may not provide the same level of data protection as your jurisdiction. Where a transfer from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom is required, it relies on the standard contractual clauses approved for that purpose, together with the technical measures that our providers apply.

10. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, ask us to restrict or object to processing, and ask for a portable copy. You may withdraw consent at any time where processing rests on consent, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you may request disclosure of the categories of personal information collected and the purposes for which it is used, request deletion, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; we do not sell personal information. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within thirty days and may ask you to confirm your identity before acting.

11. Protecting children

This site is written for adults and general readers. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under sixteen. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

The site is served over HTTPS with a strict transport policy, and administrative access is limited and password protected. Traffic passes through our content delivery network’s filtering layer before it reaches the origin server. No system is perfect, so we do not promise absolute security; we do promise to notify affected readers without undue delay if a breach affecting their data occurs.

13. Marketing communications

We do not run an automated newsletter at present and we do not send marketing email to addresses collected through this site. Any address you give us is used only to reply to your message. If a subscription service is added later, it will operate on a confirmed opt-in basis and every message will carry a working unsubscribe link.

14. Changes to this policy

We review this policy when the site changes in a way that affects data handling. The date below shows the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.

15. Contact

Questions, requests and complaints about privacy go to [email protected]. Please include enough detail for us to identify the data you are asking about.
